The first one I ordered came broken in pieces. Amazon nicely sent out a new one. Once I got the final product, it is quality and large. Very happy.

How many times have you lamented your Mr. Coffee brewer, drinking the swill with disgust? Been enough times to Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Caribou Coffee or (fill in your favorite coffee chain) and cursed the blend or blamed yourself for shelling-out too much money? The Bodom Chambord Coffee Press is the perfect solution. It's cost-effective, at under $30.00 (includes free shipping), and with the right blend of coarse coffee (or better yet, a grinder that delivers on-cue), you've got a delicious, rich cup of coffee that lifts your spirits and satisfies your discriminating palate. I've noticed that the potency of the flavorful coffee that results allows me to get by on a single 12 oz. cup of coffee, rather than going back for seconds of impotent blends. Do yourself a favor and get one of these French coffee presses.

I love this french press! But the coffee grounds are a mess to empty! That is until my wife found an EASY solution... I must back up here, for a minute, and tell you that i ordered a "Tambaroo",($20) a device made of silicon rubber, with magnets on it. What you do is fill it with your coffee grounds, then drop it in the french press. after you push the plunger down, it is supposed to grip the magnets, and then you retract the plunger, with this device stuck to the end of your plunger.(most of the time it does not stick to the magnets, when retracting the plunger). Then you have to empty the grounds from it by turning it inside out over your trash can. the grounds still stick to it, and you still have a mess on your hands! Now comes the easy way! My wife has a simple 6" wire mesh collender-strainer,(you can purchase cheaply in any store that sells kitchen stuff). when she removes the plunger, she just rinses it over the strainer, then just pours some water in the french press, and empties it in the strainer. You now have all the gcoffee grounds in the strainer. Then she taps it over the trash can, and all the grounds come off it in one lump! Very simple, no mess, no fuss! Much better and easier then the magnetic device! I hope this is of some help to you.

Why isn't a product like this available with Pyrex or good quality glass? Plastic components? Come on. This is one of the most timeless, brilliant designs for coffee making there ever was - I want one like they used to make them. The product itself is wonderful - a machine that costs over a thousand dollars won't make a better brew. But I know a lot of people would be willing to pay more to have something more solid. Where are the coffee presses imported directed from Italy you can find on other sites? There's not even one Barenthal press available. If Amazon can't sell them directly, then there should be some sellers here who do. Unfortunately the Walmart mentality reigns - but Bodum is the best mainstream product, and if it doesn't break on you, you're golden. You'll enjoy drinking the coffee more than you will holding the product in your hands; which is a shame. These coffee presses used to be beautiful things.

We really like our "french" (coffee) press, but we had hoped the 8 cup unit would easily fill two coffee mugs twice. It barely does if we don't fill the mugs to the top! Also, we usually wash the base unit assembled, but one of the times we took the beaker out of the stand to wash, it was cracked by contact with some other item in the dish rack. So, we recommend leaving the unit (minus the top and plunger) assembled when cleaning it. The good news is that we were able to acquire a replacement beaker directly from Amazon.
