The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew. The AeroPress is BPA free.

I'm a coffee snob, but this aeropress works great. I've used a French press for years, always forgoing that last 1/2 ounce or so. But the aeropress makes that unnecessary. It really is as easy as the makers make it sound. I haven't tried espresso (not my thing anyway). The only complaint I have is the size. Just 2 ounces larger and it would be the right size for the coffee mug I use the most. Instead, I fill it to the #4, stir, wait until the water goes down to #3, then add more hot water. That sounds easy enough, but it isn't always clear (especially if you're using coffee to wake yourself up) where the water level actually is (versus the kind of coffee froth that forms when you pour the water in--if you've used this, you know what I mean). I've used this for about a month now, and I still don't have that down to a science. It's not a reason not to buy this--I'll continue to use it--but it might take a few weeks of trial an error unless you drink from a rather small cup.

When I first got this, I just tried it with whatever ground coffee I had. That coffee tasted bleh in the machine and it tasted bleh here too.
I'm very picky when it comes to coffee. I like americano or certain brewed coffee but I hate it when I can taste the acidity or bitterness of the coffee... which is why I wanted this machine.
SO today, I actually got some good roasted coffee beans, ground it myself to a nice consistency, followed every direction (not boiling water etc) and made a cup of americano.

It tasted better than most coffee shop americanos... I am truly amazed. I usually put in a little bit of milk for a nice smooth flavor, but I couldn't because I thought it would be a crime to ruin the delicate flavor of this lovely coffee! I am so excited about this machine!
Mind you, i tried this same coffee bean with the drip machine as well and its not comparable. with this machine, I couldn't taste any bitterness or unpleasant flavors. It was nice, robust, and clean. Aeropress all the way.

I've had my Aeropress for about a year it makes a fabulous cup of coffee.
There's a huge thread at coffeegeeks about the gadget and I took some advice from there as far as brewing. I use a heaping scoop, heat the water to ~175F, pour to the middle of the (4) mark, stir for about 10 seconds - I just use a teaspoon, then press. This recipe will make 8 oz of coffee. At first I used a Kyocera hand grinder (settings available in coffeegeeks thread) but that's a little too much trouble for me so I just go to the local food co-op and grind a weeks worth. I use the next setting up from expresso (coarser), it's not quite as fine as the Kyocera and not quite as tasty but extrememly good. As other people have commented buy extra filters when you buy the aeropress to save on shipping.

The Aero-press makes claims that are not true - not espresso or Americano maker at all. But it is the best single cup brewer on the market. It surpasses French Press for quality and is the least messy single cup prep device out there.
Also, it can function very nicely without boiling water (with those motel room small coffee makers which don't get water as hot as my home units). This sets it apart from French press or other pour over methods which need boiling water to extract the coffee well.
Also, it is the quickest method I've used. I heat water while I'm grinding and once I begin to pour water, it's less than a minute to the cup being ready. Typical of many owners, I use mine upside down, and dispense with the paddle they include to 'stir' (slop) and use a chopstick.
Here is a 2 minute video on YouTube I did of me explaining it...

I misunderstood a package deal, and placed two Aerobies in my shopping cart. During checkout I canceled one of them... I saw the number change to 1, and I hit continue. The final order showed only ONE Aerobie.
An hour later, I received an Amazon confirmation email, and it said I had ordered two! Of course, the promise of easy order correction had said 30 min, BUT I HAD NO NEED TO CHANGE MY ORDER, until their email showed it was wrongly recorded. Checking the status of the order, the Aerobies were apparently already being shipped.
I looked into returns, and one suggestion was to sell the extra Aerobie. Okay, I thought, let me see how that works. No,the page reported, I could not sell the second Aerobie BECAUSE IT HAD NOT YET SHIPPED!!
So which is it Amazon, shipped or not shipped, and why am I getting two, WHEN I CORRECTED THE ORDER!
Now I wish I had saved a screen shot of that final checkout page... the total was ~$53, now it is~$87
Some programmer has dropped the ball here!
